The IMPC is pleased to announce the election of a new Senior Leadership Team. Radislav Sedláček is the new Chair of the IMPC, and Yann Herault the new Vice-Chair. Steve Brown, who was the Chair of the IMPC, has stepped down to become the Past Chair.

Radislav Sedláček (Ph.D.) is the Director of the Czech Centre for Phenogenomics (CCP), a Czech-national research infrastructure specialising in rodent model generation and phenotyping, having also established a preclinical testing platform and PDX-cancer pipeline. CCP is part of the Institute of Molecular Genetics (IMG) of the Czech Academy of Sciences, and a valued consortium member of the IMPC.

Radislav is a leading expert in molecular genetics and genome editing and has dedicated his career to the study and development of transgenic technologies and in vivo gene function models, as well as the provision of scientific infrastructure for the study of human disease. Among others, his specialisations include studies in metabolism, immunology, craniofacial development, and the gastrointestinal tract through the use of mouse models.

Yann Herault (Ph.D.) is a Research Director at the Centre for Scientific Research (CNRS) and the Director of the Institute Clinique de la Souris (ICS), a large resource service unit from the “Institut de Genetique et de Biologie Moleculaire et Cellulaire” (IGBMC) in Strasbourg, France. ICS is one of three centres under PHENOMIN, a French National Infrastructure for mouse phenogenomics, offering services in generating, phenotyping, archiving and the distribution of mouse models. PHENOMIN is also one of our valued consortium members.

“Thanks to the leadership of Steve Brown, the IMPC is in good shape.  Talented and committed scientists all over the world are bringing together a high level of unique expertise to achieve IMPC primary goals, deciphering the function of mammalian genes and bridging the gap to clinical research for the benefit of diagnosis and treating human diseases! With Radek and Steve still with us, we will pave the way for the future success of the IMPC!” – Yann Herault, Vice-Chair of the IMPC.

Yann is also a Team Leader at the IGBMC where he focuses on translational medicine and neurogenetics. He researches and identifies dosage-sensitive genes implicated in intellectual disabilities (IDs), such as Down syndrome and 16p11.2 syndromes, to further our understanding of IDs and propose new therapeutic approaches. Yann’s recent papers include doi: 10.1242/dmm.035634; doi: 10.1093/hmg/ddy447 ; doi: 10.1186/s13229-020-00405-7.

Steve Brown, the former Chair of IMPC, commented:

“Many congratulations to Radislav Sedláček and Yann Herault! I know that they will bring a wealth of expertise, judgement and foresight to the leadership of IMPC, and all of us at IMPC look forward to working with them. The IMPC, in 2021, will celebrate the 10th anniversary of its foundation and are now preparing to enter a new phase of our work. We will complete a functional catalogue of the mouse genome, and increasingly focus our endeavours on large-scale functional studies of human genetic variation. These are exciting times for IMPC!”
