Dear Members of the IMPC Community.
It is with profound sadness that we share the news that Prof. Dr. Johannes Beckers unexpectedly passed away on July 21.
Johannes was Deputy Director of the Institute of Experimental Genetics at Helmholtz Munich and Scientific Director of INFRAFRONTIER ERIC. He was a dedicated scientist, educator, and leader whose contributions have had a lasting impact on the international research community.
Within the IMPC, Johannes served as a member of the Executive and Finance Committee and was deeply committed to the Consortium’s mission. Through his vision, insight, and unwavering dedication, he played a pivotal role in shaping the IMPC’s direction and future. His leadership and thoughtful guidance strengthened our scientific endeavors and collaborative community.
Beyond his many professional achievements, Johannes was a kind, respectful, and compassionate colleague and friend. His warmth, generosity, and commitment to others touched many throughout the IMPC community.
On behalf of the IMPC, we extend our heartfelt condolences to his family, friends, and colleagues during this difficult time. We mourn his loss and honor the legacy he leaves behind.
