Experimental Design
Mutant mice and wild-type controls (6 females/group)
Procedure
Mutant mice and wild-type controls (6 females/group) are infected with Trichuris muris eggs by oral gavage.
Weights are recorded daily and any mice that have lost greater than 20% or that exhibit clinical signs are culled.
At day 33 post challenge the mice are sacrificed with the caecum collected and assessed for the presence or absence of worms. In addition blood is collected by cardiac puncture and serum isolated for confirmation of productive infection.
