To search for Parameters that are associated with a particular ontology you need to click the Ontologies link on the main menu bar.

You can type ontology ids or terms to find ontologies present in the IMPReSS database. Selecting a suggestion from the list or clicking the search button when a valid ontology id is entered will start the search and display the results on the page. Entering free text or other invalid ids not present will give either a warning message or a no results found message. You are expected to select an ontology from the suggestions presented in the suggestions only.

Searching for “Cataracts” will bring up the relevant MP id (MP:0001304) which can be selected from the list of suggestions that appears. Selecting this value sets of the search and displays the results shown in fig. 7.1.

The results page displays a list of Parameters that have an ontology association of MP:0001304.  The Parameter names are listed (1) with the Procedure they are found in and the Pipeline this Procedure is present in (2), to show where they are found. Clicking on the MP ID or Term (3) will take you to the page where it lists all ontologies which are associated with the Parameter.

Searching for an EQ-style ontology will display a modified results interface in order to display the variable number of entities and qualities of an ontology. Fig. 7.2 displays the search results for “Abnormal” [PATO:0000460].

Just like with an MP ontology search, the Parameter and where it is found is displayed. But what is different is it lists entities in orange and qualities in yellow and there can be more than one entity or quality as part of the EQ-style ontology. As before, clicking on ontology term will take you to the page where it lists all the ontologies which are associated with the Parameter.
